Q:
What is the best finish, oil or water?
A:
Oil finishes tend to bring out the depth and luminance
of hardwood, but are more toxic and take longer to dry,
waterbased finishes have come a
long way in recent years and have equally good durability,
but could leave hardwood looking more bland than oil.
Q:
We just built an addition, can we match the existing
hardwood?
A:
Old flooring and new flooring will most likely have
a difference in tone. These differences are most noticable
in maple and cherry but less so in oaks and pines.
Q: I was thinking
of putting hardwood in my kitchen, is this a good idea?
A: I have
hardwood in my kitchen and I love it, the only drawback
is the extra maintenance required. If you have butterfingers
you may want to consider tile.
Q:
We just want a staight wall to wall installation,
do you guys do
that?
A: Straight
wall to wall installations make up about 80% of our work.
We love to be creative and occasionally offer a discount
for unusual designs and unique in-lays just to satisfy the
inner artist in us.
Q:
What can I install in my home that will help protect
the environment?
A: Bamboo
is an incredidibly renewable resource, and I think looks
as good as anything. Of course there are also laminate products,
also known as Pergo type floating floors. If you have an
existing floor, keep up on the maitenance to extend its
life.
