When we first started out in this business, we didn't have much of an awareness of the impact that overharvesting has on the world's forests, which is why many of the floors in our photo gallery use exotic species. Now we have developed a new conscience, and we feel the need to ask ourselves if the choices we make will contribute to the problem, or be part of the solution.

Lately, technology has enabled products such as engineered laminates and bamboo to be made into flooring materials, thus easing the burden on the world's timber supplies. In addition, many hardwoods are now being tracked from forest to consumer, insuring responsible harvesting of timber.

We hope to live long enough to see the day when the world's forests make a dramatic comeback. We believe that as a flooring company we can make a conscious decision to place a higher priority on materials that help solve the problem of deforestation.
